ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is a leading Managing General Agency (MGA) specializing in lender placed insurance, mortgage impairment, and professional product lines. Additional services include debt cancellation, credit life, and GAP insurance. We are seeking an experienced Insurance Accounting Manager/Controller to oversee financial operations, including premium calculations, reinsurance programs, and commission management. This position has arisen due to an internal transition, offering an opportunity for an accounting professional with a background in carrier or MGA accounting to join a dynamic and growing organization. The successful candidate will play a key role in streamlining processes, supporting technology updates, and creating operational efficiencies.
Duties and responsibilities:
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage end-of-month calculations for carrier premiums and ensure accuracy and compliance.
Oversee reinsurance programs and handle related financial operations.
Administer commissions for lender-placed insurance programs, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
Conduct and review bank reconciliations to ensure proper cash flow management.
Lead the month-end closing process, ensuring all financial reports are completed on time.
Develop and manage commission structures and payments for internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with technology teams to enhance and update financial systems and processes.
Identify opportunities to streamline and create efficiencies in accounting workflows.
Experience:
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in an MGA, insurance carrier, or similar environment.
Strong knowledge of reinsurance and lender-placed insurance accounting practices ideal.
Proven ability to streamline accounting processes and implement operational efficiencies.
Experience in leveraging or updating financial systems and software to enhance productivity.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex calculations and reconciliations.
Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with internal teams, external partners, and vendors.
